Needle Felted Ted by Jane Rogers

Jane designed this delightful teddy after attending a needle felting course. He has been created using undyed Italian Silk Waste. Felting needles and other fibres are available from www.fibrecrafts.com.

Shattered Purple by Carolyn Durkin

Carolyn Durkin is the New Member Director of the World Wide Pressed Flower Guild (click here for info).

'Shattered Purple' is an A4 arrangement on a coloured card base. A torn piece of mulberry paper is mounted onto the card using spray adhesive. Triangles of PaperShed Silk Gauze and slivers of PaperShed Sloshy Paper in complimentary colours are placed randomly on the mulberry paper and glued down. Pressed hydrangea flowers complete the picture.

The pressed plant materials shown were selected and home pressed by the artist.

Autumn Sunset by Carolyn Durkin

'Autumn Sunset' is a 10x8 arrangement using mountboard as a base. The background is Papershed Dyed Tissuetex selected for its sunset colours and fixed to the mountboard using a spray adhesive. Torn Sloshy Paper is used for mountain sides on either side of the picture and fixed using PVA glue. Pressed maidenhair fern gives the impression of trees growing from the mountainsides. The foreground is made up from an assortment of pressed autumn leaves.

Tissutex Art by Linda Chapman

Linda created this piece with Tissutex. Using a watery solution of Silk Paper Medium, she took small pieces of dyed tissutex and glued them down onto the main sheet. She then built up layers with skeleton leaves, paper yarn and re-claimed blue jean fibre.

The dried laminated paper can then be embellished with hand stitching or machine embroidery.

Silk Sea by Alison Bate

This design has been created using hand dyed silk fibres and CMC paste by following the silk papermaking method. Other fibres such as cotton or wool could also be used with this method.

Heart of Silk by Susan Litton

Susan has also used the silk papermaking method to create this piece. The base for the design is made from a few of layers of undyed silk hankies which were pulled out flat before adding the additional hand dyed silk fibres.

Woven Silk Fibres by Ruth Edwards

A further variation on the silk papermaking method. Ruth has taken lengths of dyed and undyed silk fibres and woven them prior to applying the CMC paste.

Making a Statement by Allison Farlow

Shredded scrap paper was bonded together by the silk papermaking method. Allison has carefully placed strips of printed paper close together so that some of the orignal text can still be read
